Lightning never strikes twice.

So we did it a third time.

REV3 marks the rebirth of EVT’s road bike legacy. Our most powerful bike yet, REV3 has been the core of our blood, sweat, and gears.

Discover every component that makes REV3 titan of the track.

Battery Pack

Our custom battery pack features 700 cells that generate 420V to power REV3.

Fairings

Designed for rider comfort, our custom carbon fiber fairings

The Penthouse

Centralized enclosure for most of REV3’s electronics.

Integrated Electronics

Penthouse Enclosure

The Penthouse Enclosure contains some of REV3’s most integral boards. Below are PCB and 3D views of every board, with their function also listed.

  • Responsible for the state machine to control bike startup, shutdown, and fault logic. Also controls throttle and torque commands to the motor controller.

  • Converts and manages large 400V battery voltage down to 12V for electrical systems.

  • Reads temperature sensors to control cooling loop operation via cooling pumps and radiator fans.

  • Isolation monitoring for pack plus and minus to ensure rider safety.

  • Reports bike motion and orientation data.

  • Reports wheel speed data from front and rear wheel. Used together with IMU to implement traction control in the future.

  • Routes signals and power from bike systems to each relevant board in the penthouse.

Handlebar Enclosure

The Handlebar Enclosure is home to REV3’s Heads-Up Display and Indicator Lights (HUDL) and the Handlebar Interface Board (HIB).

Display driver for 7-inch capacitive touchscreen IPS display between the handlebars on the bike to report debug information and bike statuses to the driver.

HUDL

HIB

Handle signals from handlebar controls such as throttle and brake to send to the rest of the electronics.

The Auxiliary Enclosure is home to the Gateway Utility Board (GUB), which captures CAN data to wirelessly send to remote laptop for debugging via wifi and LoRa.

Cosmetic Additions

Underglow

Underglow Interfaces with Neopixel strips to control multiple strips over CAN.

Audio Driver

Drives a speaker to play miscellaneous sounds/music at demos.

Track Timer

Uses a pressure sensor to count lap times for parking lot practice sessions.

Mechanical Elements

Battery Pack

The new REV3 battery contains 700 Molicel P45b 21700 size lithium ion cells arranged in a 100s7p configuration. When fully charged, the 420V pack provides a peak power output of 132kW and a capacity of 11.3kWh, making it the most powerful battery in EVT history.

REV3 Fairings

Designed and manufactured in house, REV3’s custom carbon fiber fairings are 70% lighter than REV2’s fairings.

Developed for rider comfort and component protection, our fairings are the final touch to our third EV.
